Norman Mailer came to the Lehigh Valley several times in the 1970s and 1980s to visit me, and also sometimes to rent vans from my friend and client, Bruce Rothrock. Norman routinely drove a Corvette or Porsche or a BMW and for the summer vacations in Provincetown, Mass., or Bar Harbor, Maine he needed a big van with lots of seats for all of his kids.
